Can Dust Mites Turn Back Time?

Dust mite plushie

We try not to think about dust mites too much. But if you are allergic, it's impossible to put them out of your mind. They are everywhere, feeding off the dead skin cells we all shed every day. But dust mites may have a unique quality which makes them as interesting as they are creepy.

Two biologists at the University of Michigan may have found evidence that dust mites violate Dollo's Law: "evolution is unidirectional and irreversible." Dust mites may be devolving!

Their research shows that dust mites "evolved from parasites, which in turn evolved from free-living organisms." That's ordinary evolution. But they went on to find that "house dust mites have abandoned a parasitic lifestyle" and have gone back to being free-living creatures--no longer dependent on another organism for its survival.

Oh, great.

Are dust mites making you anxious or itchy? Causing you to have allergy attacks or throw away perfectly good furniture? Giving you nightmares? You could do like I do and try not to think about them, but if they are really affecting your life, we have a solution--kill them! Alliance Environmental Group uses high temperatures to kill dust mites and many other common household pests like roaches and even bed bugs!

Don't let dust mites evolve or devolve in your environment! Call Alliance and make them extinct!
