It’s something every company needs. Marketing. The importance of marketing has always been evident but more so within the past decade with the rise of many fast-paced marketing outlets. Marketing by definition is “…the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.” If you are in marketing whether that’s face to face or social media marketing, you know how important this is.

Marketing proves itself to be vital to the whole sales process. Many say it’s the first step in the sales process. With great marketing, your company’s product, idea, or services are on display in the most positive light to potential customers. Here are 5 key factors on how to be the best with your marketing.

Communication

This is a key factor for really any position but especially when it comes to marketing. By actively communicating with clientele, you establish a reliable source of information as well strengthen trust in the relationship. This can be shown through quickly responding to emails, texts, or calls. Everyone appreciates someone who is reliable.

Friendliness

Being enjoyable with prospective clients is always recommended. Most Marketing Representatives show an extroverted, warm, and open attitude to people. This is important when marketing because people usually buy from people they like. You don’t have to be an extrovert or the most popular person to be great at marketing. Focus on smiling, welcoming body posture, and a good sense of humor is enough to show you have a positive and friendly attitude.  

Organization

If you are in the marketing field, you know just how busy it can get. Keeping up with the emerging trends, events, and new clientele can get pretty busy. Staying organized is a major key to success in this field. Writing down goals, tracking accounts, organizing business cards, managing a calendar, and color coding is all small but important parts of organization.

Having A Plan of Action

Plan out your next step! What accounts are you targeting next? What do you have to do achieve your next goal? If you can’t answer these questions, you might be in a complacent spot. Stepping a little out of your comfort zone and developing a new plan of action might help ease that dry spell. Start by writing down your current obstacle, what you want to change, and how you are going to change it.

Know Your Product

Product Knowledge is crucial in marketing to know what you are bringing to your clients. Educating yourself on how your services and products benefit your customer, creates a focused action plan. Being able to walk prospective clients through the benefit of your services to them is key. This happens by knowing your product! You can start by researching your company on the company website (you should expect prospects to be doing this too), talking with fellow associates about your products, and researching the importance of what you do. If you’re able to answer these questions with prospects then you’re one step closer to the sale!
