Tips for Hiring Professional Cleaning Crew

We have been told repeatedly how important it is to thoroughly wash your hands to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, but that also means we can and should keep the items we touch clean too.  At home, frequently touched items include doorknobs, light switches, countertops and remote controls.

At a business, you add chairs, office equipment, desktops, any number of items! Plus, surfaces can become contaminated again within minutes if an infected individual is present and sneezes or coughs without controlling the droplet spread. This makes the task of thoroughly cleaning high-touch items very time intensive.

The virus that causes COVID-19 has been shown to live on surfaces for anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on the surface, so deep cleaning becomes even more essential to ensuring a healthy workspace. Because of this, more and more businesses are looking to professional teams to come in and take care of the job.  

Know what to look for when you are interviewing potential companies.

  • Does the cleaning crew use PPE?
  • Do they know which cleaning agents are effective against coronavirus?
  • Are the cleaning products used EPA approved? 
  • Do they know the recommended ‘contact time” each product should be on the surface for it to be effective?
  • What safety measures are in place to prevent contamination? 
  • How is decontamination handled after the job is complete?
  • Are they licensed and certified to handle biohazardous waste and removal if needed?
  • Is the company compliant with appropriate regulatory agencies and services?
  • Do they carry proper insurance and liability?
